Public Speaking - A Great Way To Grow Your Personal Brand. How and Where To Begin?

Would getting in front of hundreds of your potential clients and providing them engaging speech increase your chances of signing up a few of these clients?⁣

You guessed it - it definitely would!

Public speaking is one of the best ways to book yourself clients, so it's time you implemented this strategy into your personal brand growth strategy.

There are no excuses - while you are stuck at home, it is a great time to sit down and work on your personal branding strategy, which should totally include public speaking opportunities.

Even if your palms get sweaty from only the thought of standing on the stage delivering the speech... I would still definitely encourage you to do it.

Let me tell you why.

5 Reasons Why Public Speaking is a Good Way to Build Your Personal Brand

#1: It builds your authority ⁣

Anyone can be on the internet and social media sharing tips and advice on a subject. It's not very hard to do nowadays; you just need an internet connection, phone, or laptop.

Now, going out here and getting a speaking arrangement, that's another topic. It's not as easy to do, and not as many experts manage to make it happen, so it gives you so much more credibility.

If you're invited to speak at the event, most likely, you wouldn't be on a stage if you wouldn't have some good information to share. So, being seen on a stage helps other people to perceive you as an authority, which makes them want to work with you more than with someone they found on Instagram.

You see, this reason alone can completely change and transform your business, so if you get the change to participate in the event or give a speech somewhere, don't even think about saying 'no'!

#2: "Know like and trust" factor ⁣

Just like with having higher authority than a random person on the internet, public speaking makes it easier to sell things to people.

Once they see you up close in person, on a stage in your power suit, giving a powerful speech, they trust you so much more than someone on Instagram. It takes a longer time to build the same trust via social media and the internet than it takes in person.

That's normal and very human, even with the internet being one of the biggest parts of our lives, we still don't trust strangers online with our money completely.

So, if you want to build trust a little bit faster and build those more meaningful connections, it might be good to get yourself a public speaking gig as soon as one if available.

#3: New audience ⁣

It is always great to expand your horizons and find a new audience interested in what you have to offer. ⁣And online and offline audiences might be very different, yet great for your brand.

Not everyone is reachable online, so when you go to speak to events, you can reach people who are interested in what you have to offer that you would not have reached otherwise.

Also, it's always important to expand your audience, no matter how big or small it is. And the more opportunities you get to do that, the better for your personal brand it is.

#4: Being memorable ⁣

It is often said that people might not remember how you look or what you said, but they will always remember how you made them FEEL. Telling a story or educating the audience, you have an opportunity to create an emotion and become memorable.

This is way harder to achieve via social media and the internet as the noise is loud. You have to work very hard to stand out and speak to people more personally.

When you're speaking at the event, there are still many people in the audience, and there are other speakers as well. But it's way easier to make an impact when there are ten other speakers than when there are millions of other speakers online, right?

So, take your change and craft a speech that is very deep, rich, and powerful. Tell a story and focus on what is interesting for other people, don't just get on the stage and talk about yourself without giving value to people who are listening to you.

#5: Becoming a better communicator ⁣

I'm going to be honest, my first public speeches sucked. BUT it motivated me to work on my presentation style, body language, and become more specific. These skills are awesome not only for my public speeches but also for overall communication with my team, clients, and interviews.

So, if you're not interested in building your authority or reaching a new audience, you might find public speaking helpful in this sense. Especially now, when so much of our communication is online and not verbal anymore, it's important to not forget about improving communication skills.

Final thoughts⁣

OK, I know you're probably cursing me right now as public speaking is one of the most popular phobias, and people seem to avoid it at all costs. But trust me, there are many reasons to use this strategy to grow your brand.

So, now I have a little exercise for you - write down a list of topics you would love to give a speech about and start making notes. Trust me - it might be scary; it will definitely be totally worth it in the end.
