This Is When To Post On Social Media

We all know the golden phrase "being at the right place, at the right time ".

What we should also know is that in this day and age, this rule to success applies not only in real life but in social media too.

Posting on the right social media platform at the right time is one of the best ways to maximize your engagement, and it should be an essential part of your social media marketing strategy.

Before diving into the topic and revealing the most optimal posting times for most popular social media channels, I have to make a little disclaimer – there is no one perfect answer.

The thing is everything really depends on your target audience. If you want to find this information useful, you have to know WHO you are targeting, where are they from, what social media channels they are using, and only then adjust your posting times accordingly.

In other words, best post timing will vary depending on your unique audience, their time zones, their favorite social media platform, and your marketing goals.

However, we gathered enough data to help us explore some general trends which, if followed, can help you boost, enrich, and improve your social media strategy. And who doesn't want that?:)

So, are you ready? Then let's dive in!

INSTAGRAM

First of all, be mindful about your audience's timezone. For instance, If you live in the United Kingdom but most of your audience is from USA, you should post when the USA audience is most active.

Most of your audience is from the country where you live? Then it's even easier as you won't have to adapt to a different time zone.

On average, Instagram, as a whole, sees most engagement around midday Monday to Thursday.

However, the best times to post on Instagram are early mornings, 1 p.m., and 5 p.m. – when people are first waking up, during lunch-time, and by the end of the work-day accordingly.

Meanwhile, the best time windows for B2B businesses are 12-1p.m., 5-6 p.m., and 8-9 p.m.

For me personally, Sundays are very busy and active days too, while Fridays see the least activity (as probably most are enjoying long-awaited weekend instead of scrolling online - and that's a right thing to do!;) ). FACEBOOK

The most consistent engagement on this #1 social media platform is seen between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Tuesday to Thursday.

On average, Facebook click-through rates increase at 9 a.m., when people just start work and first go online, and around 11 a.m.-12 p.m., when people are off for the lunch break.

However, later afternoon between 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. is also very promising, especially for B2C (business to customer) organizations.

The best day to post on Facebook is Wednesday, while it is way harder to get the audience's attention on the weekend.

LINKEDIN

Compared to other social media platforms, Linkedin gathers a more specific audience with a focus on professional users.

So it comes as no surprise that Linkedin sees most engagement around 8 a.m.-2 p.m.Tuesday to Friday.

However, the ultimate times for your Linkedin post is 8-10 a.m. on Wednesday and 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, while being active on this platform during the weekend is almost…useless.

PINTEREST

Different from all the platforms mentioned above, the best time to go on Pinterest are late evenings and weekends.

More precisely, Pinterest sees most engagement on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between 8-11p.m.

This is not surprising, having in mind that Pinterest is more browsable, and people have the most time to pin during their relaxed downtime – after work and on the weekends.

TWITTER

Generally, the best times to tweet are during the weekdays around 8-10a.m. and 6-9p.m. – while people are on their morning and evening commutes.

While B2B companies will see the most engagement on Twitter during the weekdays, B2C businesses should schedule their tweets for the weekend (especially 12 p.m. and 7-9p.m.).

Just like with pretty much any other social media platform, Wednesday is the best day for your tweets, while the weekend (especially after 9 p.m.) sees the least engagement.
